4 Key Tips for Selling Your House

It’s the ultimate spring clean — you’ve decided it’s time for a fresh start and that might mean selling your house. But as always, there are shenanigans happening within the real estate market which make this year different. So my friends, to help you prepare be sure to follow these four simple tips for selling your house.

1. Make Sure You Give Buyers Access

Let’s be honest, if people can’t access your house to view it, then it isn’t going to sell. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make — limiting the days and times when buyers have access to view your home. If it’s not accessible, it could cost you by sitting on the market longer and ultimately selling for a lower price. Lockboxes for the win!

2. Make Your Home Look as Good as Possible on the Inside

Staging isn’t just a thing people talk about. For anything to sell, especially your home, it must look inviting. Having your personal items littering the landscape is not ideal. Your real estate agent can give you expert advice on ideal staging for your home (even if it’s virtual). Updating a room with fresh paint (covering that citrine colored room that may or may not burn your retinas, for instance), steam cleaning carpets, or removing clutter can make a big impact.

3. First Impressions Matter

A buyer isn’t looking at the awesome things that you love about your house, but are trying to imagine themselves in the space. Often, the first impression a buyer gets is what they see as they walk up to the front door. Putting in the work in on the exterior of your home is just as important as what you stage inside. Freshen up your landscaping to improve your home’s curb appeal so you can make an impact with potential buyers.

4. Price It Right

It isn’t just a game show, all! This is probably the most important aspect of selling your home in today’s real estate market. If a house is priced competitively, it’s going to sell. Simple as. To do this, you have to know what’s happening with home prices in your area and understand the factors that are affecting the market right now.
